Why We Love This

A substantial and period figural oil of a young woman shown reclining among flowers and rich embroideries. Signed "R. Geiger" for Richard Geiger (Austrian, 1870-1945), a listed artist. Inscribed on verso, "Anouska, Budapest, 1940" Geiger studied at the Vienna Art Institute and, subsequently, at the Academie Chaumiere, Paris. He exhibited with success throughout Europe and was the recipient of numerous medals, prizes and juried awards. Displayed in a period giltwood frame. Painting, 33"H x 53"W.

About McNaught Fine Art

A 1986 graduate of Christie's Fine Arts of London, I headed the fine art department of a West Coast auction house before opening my own gallery. Each painting I represent is selected with care. I believe fine art to be an integral part of life, illuminating both our vision and our values for our children. As time passes, our paintings become heirlooms, enriched with our shared memories. Many things come and go. Art abides. - Anthony McNaught
