As described by Foreign Affair International

Pair of engravings, 1728. Engraved by Dupin and Sons, they were created by Bernard Direxit at the behest of the French King. Most of the floral studies done in this portfolio were plants that were bought at the King's court in Versailles. The study was meant to be an ode to the King's intricate knowledge of nature. Furthermore, they were meant to be a tribute to the king's ability to bring these floral species to court. Unframed.
