As described by McNaught Fine Art

A vibrant Post-Impressionist oil showing men working in a garden nestled within a boldly colored village lit by a warm glow. A horse calmly grazes while the villagers work under a vine-wrapped tree that provides shade from the tropical sun. Signed indistinctly lower right, "Z. Sarkoe, Studio, Haiti" and dated 1943. A spectacularly successful and early work of folk art. Unframed.

About the Seller

McNaught Fine Art

A 1986 graduate of Christie's Fine Arts of London, I headed the fine art department of a West Coast auction house for three years before opening my own gallery in 1989. Every painting I represent is selected with care. I believe fine art to be an integral part of the fully-lived life, illuminating both our vision and our values for our children. As time passes, our paintings become heirlooms, enriched with our shared memories. Many things come and go. Art abides. —Anthony McNaught
