As described by Christopher de Lotbinière's Rare Books

Across the River and into the Trees by Ernest Hemingway. New York: Scribners, 1950. True first printing, in a fine, 'second state' jacket, with orange-red colors on spine, rather than yellow, and correct price. Book is near fine, with owner address on last end page, and Scribners 'A' on the copyright page. Title taken from the last words of General Stonewall Jackson: "Let us cross over the river and rest under the shade of the trees." A fine copy of this romance set in Venice.
