Why We Love This

Reverse painting on glass of a midcentury clown holding two birds and with a black cat at his feet. Titled Vogel Clown on verso and signed lower left Graupner, for German artist Ernst Graupner (1917-1989). Graupner was known for his eglomise pieces in the mid-1900s. Clowns were a favorite subject. Displayed in original artist-made frame. Image, 9"H x 4 1/2"W.
