Why We Love This

The Hill of Devi by E. M. Forster. New York: Harcourt Brace, 1953. First printing. This is the fascinating story of Forster being the Private Secretary to an eccentric young Maharajah, in 1912 and 1921. His portrait of life in an Indian Court is intriguing, and supplied him with the material for A Passage to India. With marvelous photos of the costumes he was allowed to dress up in. Book has small coffee stain to three early pages and jacket is slightly chipped at spine ends.
