As described by Christopher de Lotbinière's Rare Books

The Day of the Jackal by Frederick Forsyth. New York: Viking Press, 1971. First printing of the author's first novel. Edgar Award-winning novel about a professional assassin contracted to kill President of France, Charles de Gaulle. Classic suspense thriller. Book has slight fading to board tops and top stain. Jacket darkened with age, with small tears and edge wear, but overall a very good copy.
