As described by
Antique Khotans like this are known for their eclectic blend of Central Asian and Chinese design traditions. Here the field has a classic tekke Turkmen design of octagonal medallions or guls linked by an allover linear grid, with secondary cruciform motifs in the intervening spaces. The inner borders, by contrast, are Chinese, while the outer one with its pomegranate design is classic Yarkand or Khotan.
About the Seller
Jason Nazmiyal, the owner of the Manhattan-based rug company that bears his name, has been buying and selling antique and vintage rugs for three decades. His goal is not merely to find and offer the finest handcrafted rugs—worthy though that goal is—but also to share his knowledge of and passion for the art form. His collection, which ranges from Moroccan runners to Swedish flatweaves to antique Oushaks, shows that he continues to achieve both ambitions.
