As described by Christopher de Lotbinière's Rare Books

Sapphira and the Slave Girl by Willa Cather. New York: Alfred A. Knopf, 1940. Vintage book club printing that resembles the first, with excellent paper quality, but no price on jacket. Book is in very good condition, with book plate to end board, dust jacket has slight fading and chipping to spine. Cather's great and beautifully subtle novel about relations between a mistress and a slave in an apparently happy Virginia house, set just before the Civil War.
