Why We Love This

Weller Pottery (established 1872) produced award-winning ceramics until 1948. this pair of hand-painted, signed vases is from the 1927-'33 "Bonito" line. Designs were drawn freehand with India ink and colored with a mineral stain. Underside initialed "L M" for painter Lillie Mitchell. The other is initialed but name is not identifiable. Both vases are moderately crazed and hand-incised "Weller Pottery" on the underside, which dates them to pre-1930 (when hand incising ended).
