Why We Love This

Libby: The Sketches, Letters Journal of Libby Beaman, Recorded in the Pribilof Islands 1879-1880, as presented by her Granddaughter, Betty John. Tulsa, Oklahoma: Council Oak Books, 1987. First edition, 204 pages with profuse black and white sketches and watercolors by Libby Beaman, who was the first non-native woman to set foot on these remote Alaskan islands. Very well-written, a fascinating read, and a beautiful book, printed on heavy cream paper and bound in pictorial boards.

About Barbara Farnsworth

My bookstore, an old wooden building at the edge of a New England trout stream, houses thousands of used, rare and antiquarian books, with particular emphasis on Home and Garden subjects -- food and drink, gardening, interior design and architecture. I also carry titles on fashion, children's books and literature. Books really do furnish a room, beautifully!
