Why We Love This

Red Wing Pottery (1878-1967) of Red Wing, MN hired four note-worthy and gifted pottery designers at different points in the company's history. One of the four, Charles Murphy, designed for Red Wing from 1940 to 1949 and from 1953 until '67. Cream-colored footed and ribbed column vase dates from the mid-to-late 1950s. Murphy, known for clean lines, produced a large collection of Mid-Century Modern works. Bottom incised "Red Wing U.S.A. M-1529." ("M" for a Murphy design).
