A Child Went Forth: The Autobiography of Dr. Helen MacKnight Doyle. New York: Gotham House, 1934. Hardcover. First Edition. 364 pp. Minor fraying and fading to top of spine. Corners slightly bent. Interior without marks, stains or tears aside from previous owner's name in pen on front end page. In 1895, Dr. Helen Macknight Doyle was just 21 and one of the West's first female doctors. This autobiography recounts how she became a doctor in California.
