Why We Love This

Beautiful watercolor of a street scene by American artist Helen Goodwin (1865-1955), circa 1940. Signed lower right. Displayed with original mat. Goodwin was born in Indiana in 1865. She went to New York to study at the Art Students League and then on to Paris to study at the Academie Julian and took classes with Charles Hoffbauer. Goodwin exhibited at the Royal Academy, London and the Art Institute of Chicago. Image, 5.5"L x 7.5"H.

A 1979 graduate of the University of California in aesthetic studies and fine art photography, I have spent many years photographing the California mountains and coast. I met Ansel Adams in 1979 at his Carmel studio and have been collecting California plein air paintings since 1986.
