Why We Love This

Arthur Diehl was an important English Impressionist landscape artist. He left his native country and settled in Provincetown, Massachusetts where he continued to paint Impressionist subjects. His Old World scenes were derived from Europe but also from upstate New York and New England. He quickly become one of the best turn-of-the-century American painters. This oil on canvas is housed in the original frame and dates from 1905. Signed lower left.
