Why We Love This

Soap (Meridian: Crossing Aesthetics), by Francis Ponge, Translated by Lane Dunlop. London: Jonathan Cape, 1969. First Edition. He was a French essayist and poet heavily influenced by Surrealism. Begun in 1943 during the German occupation when soap was a valuable commodity, and continued until 1965, the piece of soap is studied and re-studied. A seemingly infinite set of variations is played upon this one stone-like object with its marvelous powers of dissolution and re-birth.
