Why We Love This

Signs of the Times 1939-1961 by Osbert Lancaster. London: John Murray, 1961. First printing. One of the Bright Young Things at Oxford in the 1920s, Osbert Lancaster became a gifted illustrator and cartoonist, capturing the essence of what it was to be British from 1930 until the 1980s. As well as producing and illustrating his own marvelous books on architecture, he created a daily cartoon on the current news, which became a feature of the Daily Express in London for decades.
