Why We Love This

Regina Strong of Westchester, NY, was from a family of Mayflower descendants. Her charming sampler Map of the Northeast 1932, signed "RS," reflects the world as a child of her time and place would see it. The newly built Empire State Building contrasts with a covered wagon in Ohio. A ship like the Mayflower is off the coast of New England; a colonial mansion sits in Virginia. Several states were not delineated. Stitched with lively colors and housed in the original frame.

About Batten Road

Batten Road was born in the ‘70s when a crazed book-lover returned from college to work in Soho at one of the country's (world's??) most famous Art & Architecture bookstores. To feed the addiction (and rent), she quickly picked up two other jobs so the love affair with books need not end. Eventually, the addiction grew to hunting for wonderful decorative accessories, furniture, tabletop and lighting.
