Why We Love This

George Catlin and the Old Frontier, by Harold McCracken. New York: Dial Press, 1959. First edition. 216 pp. With 36 full-color reproductions and 130 in black-and-white. Catlin was the first great artist to document the Native Americans. Working in the 1830s, he became known as the "Dean of the Indian Painters." Light tanning on pages, but the plates are bright and clean.

About Batten Road

Batten Road was born in the ‘70s when a crazed book-lover returned from college to work in Soho at one of the country's (world's??) most famous Art & Architecture bookstores. To feed the addiction (and rent), she quickly picked up two other jobs so the love affair with books need not end. Eventually, the addiction grew to hunting for wonderful decorative accessories, furniture, tabletop and lighting.
