Why We Love This

Design Since 1945, a book organized by Kathryn B. Hiesinger to accompany an exhibition at the Philadelphia Museum of Art. Philadelphia: Philadelphia Museum, 1983. 251 pages, profusely illustrated in color and black-and-white. With chapters on different forms of design -- textiles, wood, lighting, furniture -- by eminent designers such as Ettore Sottsass, Jack Lenor Larsen, Olivier Mourgue and others. The range of products covered is extraordinary. A fine copy in heavy wrappers.

About Barbara Farnsworth

My bookstore, an old wooden building at the edge of a New England trout stream, houses thousands of used, rare and antiquarian books, with particular emphasis on Home and Garden subjects -- food and drink, gardening, interior design and architecture. I also carry titles on fashion, children's books and literature. Books really do furnish a room, beautifully!
