Publisher's beige linen cloth boards with "Portrait of the Artist" plate on the front cover, gilt lettering on spine. Profusely illustrated with 49 color tipped-in plates by Van Gogh and some black-and-white sketches. The spine and the top edges of the covers are very lightly age toned.
