Charming painting of colorful roosters by Helen Enoch Gleiforst (American,1903-1997), circa 1950. Signed "Gleiforst" lower right. Unframed. Born in Crete, Nebraska, Helen Gleiforst moved with her family to San Diego, California. Her teachers included Nicolai Fechin, George Melcher, John Hubbard Rich, Dedrick Stuber and Nell Walker Warner who influenced her floral paintings. Gleiforst lived in Carmel, California. A 1979 graduate of the University of California in aesthetic studies and fine art photography, I have spent many years photographing the California mountains and coast. I met Ansel Adams in 1979 at his Carmel studio and have been collecting California plein air paintings since 1986.
