Why We Love This

From Cassell's Book of Poultry, with text by Lewis Ulright and illustrations by J.W. Ludlow, this marvelous piece is entitledBlack East India Ducks and Black Cayuga Ducks. This pieces hails from Victorian-era, England, 1890 and is displayed in a wood frame. During this time, the wealth of the gentry was measured in part by the size and beauty of the poultry they bred. Both ladies and gentlemen competed fiercely in breeding prize poultry in local and regional English fairs.

About Heritage Culinary Artifacts

As a sommelier, Lisa Minucci travels the world’s great wine-producing regions and knows that where there is good wine, there is good food. Her shop, Heritage Culinary Artifacts, is the ultimate repository for her treasures and finds. It’s also a wonderful excuse for Lisa to continue to travel, eat, fish, hunt, gather, and forage, returning to her home in California’s Napa Valley with interesting booty and tales from both the trails and the table.
