As described by Clary & Co Antiques

Late-18th-century wooden document box with a lustrous patina, hand-wrought iron banding, and a country, or folk, presence. The craftsman used concentric circle decoration on the top, and an all over punch design border (probably made with a small triangular headed awl). Iron forms the three center hinged bands on the lid as well as a handle, with a center front hasp for closure.
