Why We Love This

Animals in India by Ylla. English edition, HC/DJ, 1958. 132 pages. Ex libris the film director George Cukor. His famous Paul Landacre-designed bookplate is attached to the front endpaper. There is a third party gift inscription to Cukor on the flyleaf. This is the final book from great animal photographer Ylla (pronounced “Eela”), who died in a tragic accident while in India working on this project. The editors were able to use her notes and diary entries to supplement the photographs.
