A copper plate engraving from Count de Buffon’s major work Histoire Naturelle. Each plate was engraved by De Seve with remarkable accuracy and has been beautifully hand-coloured. Published in Paris 1749-89. This image is plate number XII. Presented in a walnut frame.
About the Seller
The images which make up Trowbridge Vintage Collections come from Martin Trowbridge’s personal print archive, which he has built up over the past 30 years. Martin is an avid collector of copperplate engravings and has an impressive trove of more than 20,000 images locked away in the vaults at his London gallery.
