Why We Love This

Complex multimedia collage by Dawn Lee David, titled Woman Lying on the Grass. The abstract composition features an amalgamation of materials including newspaper clippings, various textiles, remnants of a manila envelope, a paint tube and pipe cleaners, many of which have been painted over. Signed, titled, and dated in the lower left corner, "D.L. David 1968." Displayed in a thin frame within a thicker one; both are painted dark brown wood.

About French 50s 60s

For the past three decades, Galerie Sommerlath and French 50s 60s owner Michele Sommerlath has been an art and antiques dealer with a specialty in American and European Mid-Century Modern design. Born in France, she spent the early part of her youth in Morocco before moving back to Paris. She credits both countries with informing her taste for design and color. Her approach to curation is intuitive: She buys what she loves. Her current passion is revisiting and refreshing 1980s design.
