Why We Love This

The Lady of the Decoration by Frances Little. NY: The Century Company, 1907. 236 pages. Hardcover, lacking dust jacket. Some marks and browning of pages. Book is set between 1901 and 1905, and is written as the diary as a young missionary kindergarten teacher in Hiroshima, Japan during the time of the Russo-Japanese War. This novel presented a view of Japanese life that captured the imagination of the reading public, and it became a best-seller.
