Canadian Locks, Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, Photochrom No. 54006, Detroit Photographic Company, 1902. Starting with a black and white negative, the photochrom process used stone lithography to produce remarkably lifelike and yet uniquely evocative color prints. This photochrom shows a Great Lakes steamer transiting between Lakes Huron and Superior via the "Soo Locks." Photochrom, 7"W x 9"H. Originally published and loosely matted in acid-free gray board.
