As described by
The American Synagogue: A Historical Dictionary and Sourcebook by Kerry M. Olitzky. Westport CT: Greenwood Press, 1996. First edition. Hardcover issued without dust jacket, cloth binding. The first book of its kind, a complete survey of most of the synagogues in the US, with the congregation's history. The preface indicates that a survey of all American Synagogues is yet to come. An invaluable reference. New with a trace of bending to spine ends.
