As described by
Though woven in a region west of Tibet, the design of this elegant antique Khotan harks back to Persian carpets. The field has staggered step medallions surrounded by vine scroll borders reminiscent of Kurdish rugs. The soft peach and apricot coloration, however, is distinctly Khotan and eminently decorative.
About the Seller
Jason Nazmiyal, the owner of the Manhattan-based rug company that bears his name, has been buying and selling antique and vintage rugs for three decades. His goal is not merely to find and offer the finest handcrafted rugs—worthy though that goal is—but also to share his knowledge of and passion for the art form. His collection, which ranges from Moroccan runners to Swedish flatweaves to antique Oushaks, shows that he continues to achieve both ambitions.
