As described by
Form and color converge in a symphony of tan and blue on this magnificent little antique Tabriz. From a distance, the primary impression is dark against light. Upon closer view, a delicate, unifying tracery of flowers and stems spreads across the whole surface, interrupted only by the outlines of bold, star-like medallions and the borders. The sparing but effective touches of terracotta add a subtle accent to the overall chiaroscuro.
About the Seller
Jason Nazmiyal, the owner of the Manhattan-based rug company that bears his name, has been buying and selling antique and vintage rugs for three decades. His goal is not merely to find and offer the finest handcrafted rugs—worthy though that goal is—but also to share his knowledge of and passion for the art form. His collection, which ranges from Moroccan runners to Swedish flatweaves to antique Oushaks, shows that he continues to achieve both ambitions.
