Circa 1950s unusual tan and brown four point Hudson Bay Blanket made in England. The blankets were typically traded with Native Americans in exchange for beaver pelts. The points are woven into the blanket to denote its size and weight, so that it need not be unfolded and measured. A common misconception is that each point indicated a quantity of beaver pelts. The number of points represented the overall finished size of the blanket.
