Pair of Japanese katagami designed for resist-dyeing patterns on kimonos during the Edo period, circa 1850. Each was handmade by skilled craftsmen specialized in stencil carving. Prior to the carving, several Japanese rice papers are adjoined to form a single sheet of paper and soaked in tannin-rich persimmon juice, which makes it durable, water resistant, and adds a warm brown tone to the paper. Several delicate stitches are visible upon close inspection on one. Age wear.

Inlay rectangular top with a fretwork gallery. Delicately carved apron on all four sides. The table stands on Marlboro legs joined with a classic cross stretcher. Late 19th-1920s large Japanese 4-panel Byobu Screen depicting lotus in a pond. Watercolor on rice paper. Silk matting, black wood frame with original metal hardware showing age patina. Signed. Some age wear, minor restoration on the back. No damage to painting at all, except one spot which is not easily noticeable because of the style of the painting. As shown on the images, there are some losses on rice paper, this was masked by dark gray paint to match the colors. Very good condition overall.

A rare and fine tall Famille Rose porcelain vase with a beautifully painted Begonia-shaped body and applied lizards and handles. Thick and heavy. Marked under glaze: Guangxu. The Guangxu (1871–1908) was the 11th Emperor of the Qing Dynasty, and the 9th Qing Emperor to rule over China. Guangxu means "glorious succession". 6.5"D. Base: 6"D. Excellent condition: no chips or cracks. Estate found. China, circa 1850.

Rare Famille Rose porcelain vase depicting Shou, god of longevity, one of the 3 gods of fortune, prosperity & longevity in Chinese culture, and woman and children celebrating his eternity. According to legend, Shou was carried in his mother's womb for ten years before birth, and was already an old man when delivered. He is sometimes conflated with Laozi. Vase is finely painted and carved under the painting and at neck and base. Marked: Qianlong. Early 20th c. to 1940. Estate sale found.

Decorated with flowers and butterflies made with small seashells and silver cord, on cream cotton bed. Original burl wood frame, original back and metal hangers. Water damage on cotton in top left corner. Found in Bangkok in 2014 in collection of elderly Japanese antique dealer.
