Why we love this

Focusing on the interplay of marshy lands and sky, this original work from Beth Williams demonstrates an extraordinary understanding of color and light. This piece is created with soft pastels on sanded paper.

Growing up in Amarillo, Beth developed a deep appreciation for the minimalist beauty of the west Texas plains, where the sweeping openness of the land and its vast, near-barren landscapes allowed equal attention to the limitless sky. The influence of this uncluttered terrain and her love of nature are reflected today in her minimalist landscape paintings of the many places she has visited, including the Lowcountry where she now lives. Beth's work gives particular attention to the sky in the simplified marsh, river, ocean, and seashore genres that she paints.
