Why we love this

Original wood engraving of a man riding a donkey by Willard Clark (1910-1992), circa 1930. Stamped. Displayed in a wood frame. Willard Clark created and printed advertisements, letterheads, and signs for the businesses and residents of Santa Fe, NM. As an artist he created woodblock prints of the Southwest. Considered influential in creating the essence of Santa Fe. There were two periods in which he worked as a printer: his commercial and artistic work during the 1930s Depression-era Santa Fe and in the 1980s to 1990s, when he made only fine prints. Friend and colleague of Gustave Baumann.
