Why we love this
A 19th-Century hand carved Swiss spaniel inkwell and pen tray. The dog is behind a carved log, the pen tray. His head lifts to reveal a ceramic inkwell. It is finely carved, the dog's coat and expressive face is superb. His mouth is open as he appears to greet his master. Note the paws, exquisitely carved. He has glass eyes. Signed by the maker.
