Exquisite monumental 6-panel Japanese Byobu Screen depicting a beautiful landscape with graceful red-crowned cranes, old pine tree, chrysanthemums, blue bonnets, plants, rocks, and hills. Yamato-e style.Gouache, watercolor, gold pigment "myst" on paper. Silk border. Lacquered wood frame, metal hardware. Layers of washi paper on back - a very expensive process. Nearly excellent condition - minor age wear, couple minor repairs, strong hinges, very sturdy. Japan, Edo Period, circa 1800-1850s.
