Signed verso with artist monogram 'DM' for Dora Maar (French, 1907-1997); additionally impressed, upper left, with Dora Maar estate sale stamp and painted circa 1930. Although known as Picasso's model, lover and muse during the period of his creation of Guernica (in which she, herself, appears as the lantern-holder) Dora Maar was a successful artist and photographer before they met. She studied with Andre L'hote and at the Ecole de la Ville and is well-listed in Benezit's dictionary of artists.
